You can find that those who dislike you often can’t define why that is; but this is simply to do with a certain lax attitude of people.

Perhaps it would be better to do otherwise today, other than doing as planned without knowing precisely why? Do people then just spend too much of their time stepping into places where it would have been better not to step? And if so, do people know it at the time? And if not, what do they know about it?

- Basically, I am someone interested in quotations, those mainly being of an aphoristic form; consequently, I have collected many examples together over the years, ones which I most liked, warmed to, or appreciated. Although most of these I cannot really now recall without looking them up, and so I supppose are not of much use except as written ornaments to an inefficient memory, but so it goes. I am interested in archaeology, history, and antiques, although not as much as I once was. Philosophy, also, has interested me from time to time, although I never learned much about it. It has been said (although certainly not by me) that “in time, most men become philosophers, although not particularly good ones.” I can say without much hesitation that that I am one of these fellows.
