The certainty of others can be matched only by your own; however, that doesn’t mean that you are right, for that is another matter.

Just because something is unknowable, doesn’t mean you have to believe in it.

Just because something is unknown doesn’t mean it isn’t real enough to believe it.

You can believe anything you want to provided it’s weird enough for you.

You don’t have to take an insult lying down; you can walk it off instead.

You cannot be accused of anything unless you’ve been targeted for it, if only because you haven’t been caught at it yet.

Perhaps the only freedom we really have is to rebel, and, of course, the rebels are always quashed in the mechanism.

Never wait too long for a response from others watching out for you to make a mistake, as, perhaps, it’s already happened.

It is predictable that force will be met with force; but perhaps those who are to be overwhelmed by it today had not heard the news of their forthcoming defeat beforehand and so don’t believe it yet.

It’s what you don’t question that has the most profound influence on you, although you might still come to question it later, because you deserve to.

The first thing that limits you is yourself, other things are simply incidental.

Obligations will generally get you into more trouble than irresponsibility.

What must be accepted is the given; that cannot be denied with impunity.

After a while you have no time left, which is a pity really as time is the only thing you had in the first place.

As the passing show goes on and on, so it must do so over and over again.

Without our crass clumsiness where would we be when we could no longer say sorry for it?

Without regrets we would have nothing to regret, which could be quite regrettable.

The purely personal, real human story is that there really isn’t much of one.

When time runs out on you, you should really have run faster, and then perhaps you could have caught up with it.

In this world you can believe what you like, and you’re a fool if you do and a fool if you don’t.

Clever men can be so stupid, which is probably why they’re so clever.

The real secret of success is that if it’s broke, we try to fix it; and, deep down, not a lot of people really understand what that means.

What an “honourable” man can do can be just as bad as anybody else, but his reasons are certainly more honourable.

You can hide behind a wall of silence, but don’t expect to say anything meaningful about it afterwards.

Only look for diamonds in the muck wherever they could be found.

Sometimes it’s just better to be optimistic: at least you can die laughing at a good joke.

When you find that you can’t remember most of your past, you might also find that most of the future couldn’t possibly be all that interesting either.

Improving one’s mind involves doing so before one ruins it for good, which can prove difficult.

The man who doesn’t know how to steal can only steal from himself.

Showing a little courage is fine, provided it’s done with a little moderation.
