For the average man, there is no room in the world for him to be anything else but average; and as for the exceptional man, for him to want to be like that, well there must be something wrong with him anyway.

You either conform or die, but if you know this and also conform as well then, with a little perseverance, you may still occasionally be able to fuck their brains out.

People crave acceptance, as it is a prerequisite for mental health for the social animal. While those who are most successful at gaining it also ostracise others most effectively who aren’t.

For the average man it is wise for him to remember among his fellow man that, even in the company of the greatest philosophers, if they’re hungry enough they’ll eat him alive.

Attempting to avoid virtue on all suitable occasions is the sure sign of the respect naturally expressed by the potential hypocrite to vice.

The sort of clown that has lost control of his motives through misunderstanding of his inmost desires, thus gives up his last desperate hold on his self-esteem.

To accept one’s potential for stupidity must be some sort of advance over keeping on regretting one’s potential for stupidity and doing stupid things anyway.

To swiftly create a pause makes quick delays; which is what you might need sometimes, if only to find the time to get creative with it.

Ambition must have something about the best use of its possessor’s time entailed within it; but, of course, that is not all ambition is about.

The concept of ambition itself is also something that can be used to attack the man unprepared for it, especially if he hasn’t got any.

In an antagonistic situation, never miss the best chance you have of collecting information on antagonistic situations.

Those who go prepared every day for a ruckus may just be paranoid, but may just be right.

Being a narcissist isn’t all bad: at least someone of clear intelligence appreciates your point of view.

If you tend to make too many mistakes you obviously still need more practice at it.

How can anyone be called guilty if trapped by circumstance? Usually quite easily.

Dark thoughts shouldn’t be too dark, or too light either, but should always have a shady bit in the middle.

What is necessary? Vital information. What isn’t necessary? What you do with it.

Indifference to the truth: a reminder of how truth can be distorted.

A little advice: Don’t let emotions run your life; sometimes it isn’t worth it.

Nature has no natural ethics, which is a caveat included in the nature of humanity’s natural sense of morality.

A clever person doesn’t often bother to tell people why he is so clever; and never to clever people, as they have to realize that for themselves.

One thing should be realized in life is that death is with you on the bog, although it has certainly always been a tight squeeze.

The dangers of being alive in a dangerous place to live are ever present, which is why individuals should pay attention to the ever-present dangers inherent in staying alive wherever they are.

Some people who die have just had enough; others haven’t had enough yet, but can still die despite that problem.

Higher intelligence: something primates do occasionally when they think too much.

Something we don’t quite understand may become something we don’t quite know what to do with, but do something with it anyway just to show that it must have meant something important to us at least...
